Integrative Medicine
In integrative medicine, various areas of life, such as physiology (metabolic processes in body cells, organs and tissues), emotions (feelings), cognition (thinking and understanding) and the social environment are considered and examined in order to draw conclusions about complex health problems.
This approach can be particularly interesting for health problems that have existed for a long time and for which no real cause can be remembered or determined. If several colleagues from physiotherapy and osteopathy have already worked on the problem and no real solution has been found, the right approach may not be a manual form of treatment.
The core of integrative medicine is to identify the underlying mechanisms of a symptom. To find out what these are, we look at various areas of life such as exercise, nutrition, sleep, and perception of stress.
Sometimes it is useful to carry out further laboratory tests, such as stool and blood analyses, to confirm a suspicion or rule out serious illnesses.
This creates an understanding of the individual disease mechanism and adjusting daily behaviour can reduce its impact.
